My Role
Lead Interactive Designer

This series of interactive timelines were created for A People’s Contest, a permanent exhibition at the American Civil War Museum in Richmond, Virginia. Each station anchors a “pillar year” of the Civil War, combining artifacts, historical headlines, and layered touchscreen media to provide multiple entry points into the conflict’s events, geographies, and figures.

As Lead Interactive Designer, I collaborated with curators, exhibit designers, and content team to concept, design, and spatially integrate the installations. I also designed the user experience and interface of the touch-screen interactive; from wireframe concepts to image retouching and execution.

The interactive timelines allowed visitors to dive deeper into narratives that the physical exhibition could not fully contain. Positioned at the start of each year of the Civil War, the pillars provided an architectural rhythm that structured the chronology of the gallery. By integrating physical form with digital storytelling, the stations made complex history more accessible and engaging for diverse audiences. Visitors could also explore artifacts in extreme detail (up to 500% magnification) revealing textures and features often hidden behind museum glass.
